For a sucessfully Exterior Painting job we recommend five basic steps, based on PDCA standards, scpecifications, and codes.
Step 1
CLEANING: Power washing all surfaces to be painted or stained, to assure all surfaces are free of dirt, oil, grease, mold, mildew and foreign matter which would impair proper adhesion of the applied finishes.
Step 2
PROTECTION: Furnish and lay drop cloths, plastic, rosin paper along with masking tape in all areas where coating work is being done to protect items that are not part of the scope, during the course of the job.
Step 3
PREPARATION: Begins with full scrape to remove loose, peeling, blistered or cracked paint by hand scraping, hand sanding, or pad sanding. Power sanders is also an option to have a smooth surface and feather-edge.
Step 4
Priming: Spot-prime or full coat of primer to all bare wood, weathered or dry, exposed wood surfaces with the specified penetrating product. When the primer coat is dry, caulking all joints, gaps and nail holes, around the doors, windows, soffit, fascia and siding.
Step 5
Finish coat: Apply two coats of finish paint to all surfaces. Before applying the first finish coat, lightly sand rough or fuzzed areas. The final finish coat will be applied according to the manufacture’s specifications.
Upon completion of the painting job, remove all masked items from surfaces that have not been painted. Remove all materials and debris and leave the work site in a clean condition, to the satisfaction of the Owner.
Project manager performs a walk-through with customer to certify that all areas are properly painted and all utilities are functioning. If a touch-up is required it will be done immediately before our staff leaves the job site.
At the completion of work, for the Owner's maintenance purposes, one half gallon can of paint in each color used, will be furnished, and two years workmanship warranty will be provided.
