Deck Replacement: Install flashing before the deck

Ice and water sometimes can become a problem when it reaches unwanted spots of a house, so what can we get done in order to keep water out from locations that can get rotted?
Well, we might not always be able to prevent water from reaching certain points of a house, but we can definitely protect these points as much as we can, keeping water away from unwanted spots; and when it is done right, it will work.
The door sill as well as the bottom plate of a house are two locations where the ice can accumulate during the winter season, so they must be addressed.
In this particular custom built deck project, we installed three Anderson 400 series Gladding doors, and the new deck was built afterwards. Well, before we had the doors intalled we applied Grace Ice & Water Shield on the whole wall length, but I was not happy. So, after that, we installed aluminum coil on the Ice & Water Shield and a bid of silicone on the bottom corners of each door.
Why did we have to get it all done? When you look at the picture, you can see that the deck was built afterwards, so since we knew we would not be able to reach that location once the deck was done, we had to get it done right because if the ice accumulates underneath the deck, it could get rotted and that was not the reason we got there for.
Can you imagine what would have to be done if it gets rotted underneath the deck?
Well, I would rather get all the job done right now then to remove the deck after it is built! Believe me!
